Promoting sport
Lavreysen adds: “During my career, I also want to give something back to the sport and to young people, to be an inspiration and, in doing so, fulfil a social role. My goal is to get as many people as possible on a bike.A broader role within Dutch cycling events, with a focus on how the sport is promoted, fits well with the role I primarily fulfil: that of a track cyclist. Working together with the largest cycling event organiser in the Netherlands makes this a partnership we can build on for the long term.”
Track Champions League
The first joint event, the Track Champions League, aligns seamlessly with Libéma Profcycling’s ambitions and impressive track record, which includes numerous national, European and world championships. “There is much more to look forward to in the coming years,” says Kamphuis. “It is no coincidence that our partnership with Harrie is starting now.”
Creating impact
Although Lavreysen is currently focused on the Olympic Games in Paris, he is also looking ahead to the period after that to begin shaping his legacy. “I really want to commit myself to cycling while I am still able to make a difference. Often, riders focus mainly on racing during their careers and only start thinking about a social role afterwards. Over the coming years, I want to bring these two elements together more closely, so the impact can become even greater. Our ambitions are perfectly aligned, which is why we are looking to the future together.” Future events will be announced at a later stage. For Lavreysen, the focus is first and foremost on Paris.
