Shimano Neutral Service completes successful Tour de France

The Shimano Neutral Service is just as important to the wearer of the yellow jersey as it is to the rider carrying the red lantern. For three weeks during the Tour de France, the neutral service was ready to help every rider, regardless of their position in the race, get back on the road as quickly as possible.

In the heat, during sprint and mountain stages, in decisive finales and for riders in the gruppetto, the recognisable blue service cars and motorcycles once again proved to be a trusted presence in the world’s biggest cycling race.

Three weeks fully dedicated to the race

The Tour de France demands the very best from riders, teams and the organisation every single day. Behind the scenes, this requires an operation in which preparation, logistics and timing come together seamlessly. From the Netherlands, the deployment of the Shimano Neutral Service is prepared and coordinated, ensuring that the team can respond immediately whenever a rider suffers a mechanical issue or requires other assistance.

Led by former rider and sports director Servais Knaven, an experienced team was on hand throughout the Tour with service cars and motorcycles carrying spare bikes, wheels, drinks, nutrition, cooling supplies and technical equipment.

One of the longest-running partnerships in international cycling

LPC is proud to have played a key role in establishing the Shimano Neutral Service. Over more than 26 years, the partnership has grown into a recognised name in international cycling.

From day one, LPC has coordinated the operation on behalf of Shimano, with the support of partners such as Škoda. None of this would be possible without race organisers, such as Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) in this case.

On to the Tour de France Femmes!

The Tour de France may be over, but the cycling season continues at full speed for the Shimano Neutral Service. The next challenge is already approaching: the Tour de France Femmes.

There too, we will work alongside our partners to provide a reliable neutral service, allowing the riders to focus entirely on the race. Together, we continue to create a platform for new cycling history.
