On 29 and 30 November 2024, the UCI Track Champions League came to the Netherlands for the first time, with Omnisport Apeldoorn serving as the venue. As part of an international calendar featuring events in cities including Palma, Paris and London, the competition brought together the world’s best riders in an innovative format centred around speed, short-format racing and entertainment.

UCI, Warner Bros. Discovery and Lavreysen

The arrival of the Track Champions League in the Netherlands was realised in collaboration with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and Warner Bros. Discovery, the organisations behind the international concept. In the Dutch edition, this was strengthened through a partnership with Harrie Lavreysen, combining elite sport with the promotion of track cycling itself. As one of the leading figures in the sport, Lavreysen played a key role in increasing the visibility and appeal of track cycling in the Netherlands.

From international format to local experience

Within this international framework, LPC shaped the Dutch edition by bringing sport and spectator experience closer together. The innovative format of short, high-intensity races was translated into an accessible event for a broader audience, with clear storylines and a compact competition structure that built excitement from start to finish.

International stars and new audiences come together

With a field featuring Olympic champions, world champions and emerging talents, the Track Champions League brought the absolute top level of track cycling to Apeldoorn. The combination of the international format, world-class riders and the fast-paced race structure created an event where sport and entertainment merged, presenting track cycling to audiences in a new and engaging way.
