The 2025 European BMX Freestyle Championships marked the first time the event was held on Dutch soil. For three days, Area51 and the surrounding Strijp-S district provided the backdrop for a championship where elite sport and urban culture came together. Surrounded by ramps, music and spectators close to the action, Europe’s top riders showcased their best runs, with technical tricks, amplitude and creativity defining the competition.

Collaboration within an urban environment

The championship was delivered in collaboration with the Union Européenne de Cyclisme (UEC), the KNWU and partners including Rabobank, Red Bull, Oakley, ASML, BrabantSport and the Municipality of Eindhoven. With Area51 as the beating heart of the event and Strijp-S as an open and accessible environment, a setting was created in which elite sport, culture and spectators blended seamlessly.

From disciplines to total experience

As organising partner, LPC brought all elements together into one integrated event experience. The combination of indoor Park and outdoor Flatland competitions, complemented by side events and an open public programme, created an event where sport and experience continuously merged. At the same time, the social impact programme “Durf jij op je bek te gaan?” (“Dare to fall?”) focused on creating lasting impact, introducing hundreds of children to BMX and its mentality of learning through trial and error.

On the road to 2028

With a strong international field of riders, European titles in both Park and Flatland, and extensive media attention, the championship became a landmark event for BMX Freestyle in the Netherlands. It demonstrated how elite sport, urban culture and social impact can come together within a single event. This edition now forms the foundation for bringing the European BMX Freestyle Championships back to the Netherlands in 2028.
