The UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships 2026 will take place at Omnisport Apeldoorn. The news was announced today during the UCI Congress in Zurich, Switzerland. It will be the third time this prestigious championship is held in Apeldoorn, with Libéma Profcycling once again organising the event. The World Championships reaffirm Omnisport and Libéma Profcycling’s commitment to giving new cycling history a stage. The event will take place from 29 October to 1 November 2026.

A strong addition to an already impressive track record

With this allocation, Omnisport Apeldoorn continues its impressive run of international cycling events. Earlier this year, it hosted the European Track Championships. In November 2024, the Track Champions League will take place there, and in August 2025, Omnisport will welcome the world’s best juniors for the UCI Junior Track World Championships. These events further strengthen Apeldoorn’s reputation as the destination for cycling in the Netherlands.

Building on the success of Paris

The recent success of Dutch para-athletes at the Paralympic Games in Paris, including gold medals for Tristan Bangma with pilot Patrick Bos, and Caroline Groot,  makes the 2026 World Championships even more special. It offers a unique opportunity to see these athletes in action once again, as an important step on the road to the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.

A win for fans and elite athletes

Maurice Leeser, Director of the KNWU, expresses his enthusiasm: “It is fantastic that we will once again be able to welcome the world’s best athletes to Apeldoorn in 2026. This event offers a unique opportunity to see our Paralympic heroes perform at the highest level on home soil, while also marking an important step in the preparations towards Los Angeles 2028. In addition, it gives us the opportunity to make a real social impact, with inclusivity, sustainability and mobility as key themes that shape not only our event, but also our future. Let’s seize these opportunities together and create a lasting impact!”

“We are extremely proud to bring this fantastic event to Apeldoorn. It shows that we embrace cycling in its full breadth. Following the European Championships in January this year and the Junior World Championships in 2025, hosting the Para-cycling World Championships in 2026 marks another major milestone. For both fans and elite athletes, this is a wonderful boost.”
